It's
about time we had a nice relaxing break away somewhere a certain somebody
said to me. That's sounds like a good idea I said - or words to that
effect. Three days is more than enough time for Venice, especially since
both of us have already been there I think we agreed. Yeah, right! Anyway
we arrived on our cheapo Ryan Air flight at an airport 5 hours away (ok
one hour) from Venice, took our courtesy bus to the centre and stepped out
into the pouring rain. After much confusion and getting lost we finally
found the accommodation reception to be told that we couldn't check into
our shack till late afternoon. So we wandered around for a while in the
rain, bought (delicious) ice cream and finally checked into our pad.
After that things went swimmingly though. The next day the sun came out
and we had a great time seeing all the sights we that we didn't see last
time and doing the rip-off but romantic gondola thing. Oh yes, and getting
lost - lots! The only other downer of the weekend was on the journey home
when I realised that my cherished Venetian purchases (clock &
painting) were still in our accommodation propped up against a wall.
Bugger! Luckily the nice reception lady kindly posted them off to me and
they reached their destination completely intact!
