No
sooner have I caught up with my washing since Barcelona, we are off again,
destination Montecatini in Tuscany. Despite the 4 hour journey
from Verona airport to our hotel, we were very pleased to be based in
Montecatini. Our hotel was small and friendly and the town was quiet but
charming and full of spas and arty entertainment. We splashed out on some
spa treatment and I got more than I bargained for when I was handed a
paper thong to wear for my back massage.
Florence
was as beautiful as expected if but hot and crowded and Sienna enchanting
and mystical with its gothic and baroque architecture. The 13th Century village
of San Gimignano with its 13 medieval towers was impressive and beautiful.
But it was good to get
away from the other tourists at times, and his we did mostly at Lucca. Here we
spent a lazy day strolling around the narrow streets, enjoying food and sunshine.
